Intervention
Objective 1: Develop prevention strategies to reduce the likelihood of individuals being exposed to opioids
Strategy 1.1 - Build a regional database of non-opioid / non-pharm interventions to manage chronic pain
Responsible Party: Prevention Work GroupData: Action has begun towards executing this objectiveTarget Completion Date: December 31, 2021Progress Highlights and Significance: Allows providers throughout the region to have a directory of N/O-N/P interventions they can refer patients to. The directory will include Chiropractors, Massage Therapist, Acupuncture, Tai Chi, Mind Body Therapies
Objective 2: Early intervention for those who experience an overdose or for those at high risk for developing a substance use disorder
Strategy 2.1 - Develop a Quick Response Team that will respond to an overdose event within a 72-hour window
Responsible Party: Intervention Work GroupData: Action has begun towards executing this objectiveTarget Completion Date: September 30, 2021Progress Highlights and Significance: The QRT is made up of 2 individuals QRT coordinator and an EMT from MMR. The team will respond to an overdose within a 72 hour window. The team will focus on harm reduction techniques, connect them to treatment, and identify any SDOH needs. There will be consistent follow-up with the individual.
Objective 3: Enable individuals, families, caregivers, and health professionals to find, access, and navigate evidence-based treatment options and recovery services for those with opioid use disorder
Strategy 3.1 - Connect Drug Treatment Courts with local Medication Assisted Treatment providers
Responsible Party: Treatment WorkgroupData: Action has begun towards executing this stepTarget Completion Date: September 30, 2021Progress Highlights and Significance: Many national and international professional bodies consider medication assisted treatment (MAT) with methadone, buprenorphine, or extended-release injectable naltrexone an evidence-based practice for treating opioid dependence. However, many drug courts do not recommend (or even allow) the use of MAT for opioid dependence.
