Description

The Cooks Academy at Old Cockrill is an after-school program run by The Carrot Academy, the educational initiative of Good Food for Good People. The program offers cooking and nutrition education classes to young parents and expectant mothers attending The Academy at Old Cockrill, an alternative high school.

The classes teach parents how to make baby food as well as simple, healthy meals for themselves and the rest of their family. Participants go home with a bag of fresh ingredients and basic cooking tools at the end of each class.

Goal / Mission

The program offers an integrated food experience to students and expectant mothers attending an alternative high school.

Results / Accomplishments

The program held its first classes in March 2013 and has been cooking up a storm.
