Michigan Health Improvement Alliance, Inc. (MiHIA), through a contract with Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority (SCCMHA) and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), is leading the development and implementation of the Region 5 Perinatal Care System Quality Improvement Initiative.
The Region 5 Perinatal Quality Collaborative will bring together multi-sector stakeholders to establish goals and strategies based on evidence-based practices to improve mother and infant health in Prosperity Region 5 (8 counties: Arenac, Bay, Clare, Isabella, Gladwin, Gratiot, Midland and Saginaw.) The primary role is this team will be to identify and support data collection, conduct a regional assessment, host two regional learning summits; participate in the state-wide networks and to develop a multi-faceted Quality Improvement Work Plan to address perinatal substance use/abuse, infant mortality, low birth weight and access to prenatal care. The Steering team will focus on implementing strategies that generate positive health outcomes and to ensure long-lasting sustainability of this initiative where mothers and babies are healthy and thriving.
