Northern Michigan Opioid Response Consortium (NMORC)
Objective(s): to develop and implement strategies to address the Opioid Epidemic across the NMORC 14-county region
The Michigan Health Improvement Alliance, Inc. (MiHIA), through a contract with Michigan Center for Rural Health, is leading the development and implementation of a 14-county opioid strategy map per the objectives and goals of the Northern Michigan Opioid Response Consortium (NMORC).
The Northern Michigan Opioid Response Consortium (NMORC) is a partnership of organizations working together across 14-northern counties (Alcona, Alpena, Cheboygan, Clare, Crawford, Gladwin, Kalkaska, Lake, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, and Roscommon) to develop and implement strategies focusing on the opioid epidemic through the areas of prevention, treatment, recovery, and workforce.

NMORC Opioid Strategy Map
NMORC recognized that while there were significant efforts across the region to address the opioid epidemic, there was a distinct opportunity to have a coordinated approach. This consortium was formed in July 2018 to develop and implement strategies to address the Opioid Epidemic across the NMORC 14-county region (Alcona, Cheboygan, Clare, Crawford, Gladwin, Kalkaska, Lake, Presque Isle, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Roscommon, and Wexford).
In order to best facilitate this approach, NMORC is in the process of completing a strategy map of services, interventions, initiatives and actions from multiple sectors and regional community partners and coalitions producing a complete catalog of current activities and approaches across the region.
If you and or your organization are implementing services and or activities aligning with any of these strategies, we ask that you share information about the services, interventions, initiatives, and or actions by completing the form linked here:
By completing the above liked form, you’re enabling NMORC to collect the most current information on Opioid strategies and activities across the continuum of care occurring in the NMORC region.
Once collected, the NMORC will then narrow strategies which will be most impactful and identify evidence-based policies and practices to improve specific metrics and set milestones of achievement. This will also enable NMORC to better:
- connect organizations and coalitions working on the same or similar strategies to improve alignment and eliminate duplication of effort;
- align activities to prevent over-investment in any one strategy;
- to insure a comprehensive approach to the opioid epidemic; and
- identify gaps in the strategy map where resources might be applied or reinvested to gain greater impact.
