Description

The Latino Education and Prevention Initiative utilizes narrowcast methodology to deliver a "Cero Humo" educational campaign about secondhand smoke. This placement strategy places public health messages in public and private spaces within community venues where people are uniquely receptive to educational and preventive information.

Goal / Mission

The goal of this program is to increase awareness about the hazards of secondhand smoke within the adult Hispanic/Latino community using a culturally and linguistically appropriate intervention.

Results / Accomplishments

Evaluation findings revealed that individuals exposed to the campaign exhibited more confidence in their abilities to protect others from secondhand smoke and advocate for a smoke free environment.
