TALK Line Family Support Center

A Good Idea

Description

The goal of TALK Line is to provide a safe, respectful, and comfortable place where parents and caregivers are supported. Volunteer counselors are trained to provide early interventions, referrals, and support to parents and caregivers who call.

Common topics of concern among callers include: child care challenges, anger management, positive discipline, calming babies, anxiety about parenting, general childcare questions, depression, isolation, and domestic violence. After the initial conversation, many callers choose to have supportive check-ins with counselors each week for months and even years.
The TALK Line Family Support Center also provides wrap-around services targeted to at-risk families. Services - including individual/family therapy, case management, parenting education - are coordinated and designed to build families' protective factors.
