Uninsured Payments

Measurement Period: 2021
This indicator shows the total amount of healthcare payments for the uninsured population.

Why is this important?

Analyzing the amount of healthcare payments for the uninsured population provides data for more accurate future planning in terms of insurance programs and health services. Uninsured people are less likely to receive medical care, including services for major health conditions and chronic diseases, and more likely to have poor health status. They are also less likely to schedule routine checkups and screenings, which deters them from seeking treatment until the condition worsens and makes it difficult and costly to treat. The uninsured population also have restricted access to medical treatment or prescription drugs due to high costs of medical care.
